A get away gone wrong, but not too wrong

I thought where I left off on my last post was going to be the end of our adventure in Prague for the day. We were to jump on
the Tram to the bus stop where we were to catch the last bus back to Novy Bydzov at 10:30. However, I was very much in the
wrong. It is my understanding now that it was a train rather than a bus that left for Novy Bydvoz at 10:30 and the bus ternimal
and train station are not near one another, not even close. So, as we had assumed, we arrived at the bus station and sat at a pub while we waiting for somewhat like 40 minutes for the last bus we thought would be arriving. We thought we had just narrowly missed the 9:30 bus. So, we sat there and waited. As the time clicked closer to 10:30 we made our way to where the bus stop was situated. The only thing, there was nobody there waiting on the last bus to Novy Bydzov, interesting. Still discovering the busing system of the Czech Republic we looked over the timetables for nearly 15 minutes before we discovered that the last bus for my city left at 8:30 not 10:30. It must have been a train that left at 10:30 and at that point there was no way we could make it across town to catch the last train. Both of us frustrated, Andrea a little more than me because she had been the one who had looked at the schedule the day before and had come to the conclusion there was a bus leaving at 10:30. Plus, myself no having any money and Andrea covering all the expenses for the time being I could easily see the frustration and pure exhaustion of patience written across her face. I, forever being the optimist, probably a little annoying to her, said, "It was not a big deal, just another situation we will have to learn from." Luckily, neither of us had to begin at our schools until Tuesday morning and it was Sunday night.
With no other options, we took the Tram back into the city of staying at a exetremely cheap hostel for the night then waking in the morning and catching a bus back to Novy Bydzov. In our guide book, the one we had on us at the time, we discovered only four accomendations, which were listed as under 3,000 Crowns a night and that is roughly too much for us too spend. Amusingly now, to me, when we got out of the Tram I called each of the accomendations listed in the guide book and, funny enough, each accomendation listed was scaresally under 3,000 Crowns, nothing we could afford. However, both Andrea and I remembered seeing a hostel as we walked about town, which looked inexpensive. Lucky for us, we found it, and it was not too expensive. We had to share a room with five others. Both of us getting the priveliage of top bunk as we arrived at the hostel so late. I think I cannot remember the last time I slept on a top bunk, a little fun, but, also, I definitely felt a little old to be sleeping on a top bunk. Our roommates were gracious, the majority of them were all ready asleep and, best of all, we had no roommates who came into the room late drunk making all types of obnoxious noise. The obnoxious noise came from something else. The guy asleep under Andrea was snoring and sounding as if he were a dying, baby seal. Neither Andrea nor I could fall asleep right away do to the dying baby seal under her and, for me, the guy who was situated under me restlessly moving about. Not sure exactly what he was upto, but the bed was a rocking.
I guess I cannot complain too much about the dying baby seal because Andrea had to wake me in the morning from my deep slumber filled with deep, loud snores by smacking me. She told me 'she had tried to tug at me for awhile, but to no success. So, it was not her fault she had to smack me.' I was sound asleep so I did not feel a thing, but woke with a quickness with the smack and we quickly got down, carefully, from our top and headed to the bus station. This time we knew there would be a train there for us. As I looked up the bus schedule at the hostel that unusual and adventerous night. Now, we are back in Novy Bydzov, with are surival skills trained that much better.
Tomorrow will be Andrea and I's first days at school. Defintely a nerveous, but very excited and we will work together today to come up with multiple lessons plans. I am so grateful I have Andrea here to help me figure out what I am doing. I think she is going to walk me through this whole year. I look forward to sharing how our first days of school go. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to comment on my blog and I will try my best to answer any comments or questions. Miss the states, but could never have adventures like these over there.

    A few questions:

    - how's the food? have you guys found any places that you like to eat?

    - how is the commute from your town to andrea's?

    - what do you miss most from the states?

    - do either of you have anyone from your schools that are being especially helpful? what are they like? have either of you met anyone (at school or your apartments) that you think you might become friends with?

  2. I am loving hearing about your adventures. Can't wait to see Prague- although I will not be staying at the hostel. Can't wait to hear about andrea's room situation. I am also interested in knowing what you are eating. have you been to the bakeries? Can't wait until we can talk again. I love you. Give Andrea a kiss and hug. Ernie is sitting outside in the sun- first nice day in awhile.

  3. Thank you for sharing your adventures with all of us. I'm enjoying reading about them. Is Wencelas (sp) named after the king in the Christmas carol? What a wonderful worldly education you are having. Good luck getting settled. :)Mary Goyeau (I taught with Reisa)
